CR10CPH: Greenland from the sea / 10 days
Departures from Copenhagen

This tour offers magnificent experiences of nature and insight into the Inuit culture. Discover the unique landscape in Kangerlussuaq as well as musk oxen and reindeer, wildlife rarely seen. It is a perfect way to meet the Greenlanders when sailing along the West Coast of Greenland. The tour is combined with hotel stays in Kangerlussuaq, Ilulissat and Narsaq.

Sailing plays a very important role in the Greenlandic infrastructure and a cruise along the West coast of Greenland is a fabulous way of experiencing this beautiful and varied country. Accommodation is in outside cabins with private facilities.

Kangerlussuaq

The wildlife area where a short stopover makes it possible to join an Arctic safari in search of musk oxen and reindeer or alternatively go in 4x4 vehicle to the Inland Ice Cap.

Ilulissat

Famed for its giant icebergs and home to the World Heritage Site of Ilulissat Ice Fjord. This is the third largest town in Greenland and a a city where modern life meets traditional life style, all surrounded by amazing nature. Here, icebergs is the main theme; get close to the icy giants covered in the rays of the midnight sun on an amazing Ice Fjord cruise or join a full-day boat excursion to the calving glacier; Eqip Sermia. You can also visit some of the remote settlements where fishing and hunting still is the only way to survive.

The Sea Voyage

Meet the local population travelling from town to town to visit relatives and friends along the coast. Enjoy the beautiful and varied landscape as we leave the rugged Arctic nature and reach the green and fertile South Greenland. We sail in open waters and narrow straits, so close that you can almost touch the mountains. Along the way the ship calls at major towns and smal settlements. Everywhere, the arrival of the ship makes people rush to the harbour to welcome friends and relatives. Life on board is relaxing; enjoy the view and make sure to keep your eyes open, as humpback whales are sometimes seen.

Narsaq

Narsaq is a small but beautiful village located in the amazing fjord systems of South Greenland. Not far from the town you will be able to visit the Inland Ice Cap and several glaciers. They are all easily accessed by boat on one of our many excursions in the area. in the outskirt of the village you will see Kvanefjeldet tower majestically - a mountain which is known to be teeming with different minerals, it may well play an important role in Greenland's future focus on the mining industry.
